HI I am shipping my 1984 VW Vanagon from Seattle to Honolulu to our family home on the North Shore. I hope you can answer my questions:
1. My AC no longer works in the vanagon, which hasn’t been much of a problem in the NW, but I know I’ll want it to work on the island, could you reccomend a place that replaces or works on an old AC????
2. I am shipping the VAnagon, and Matson normally charges a $1-K to ship, but because it’s six inches over their limit, they add another 800 dollars, bringing my total shipping cost to $1800. Is Matson the only shipping company, or is there another one with more economical rates?????
Thank you for your time and consideration, looking forward to meeting other VW enthusiasts on the island. My husband doesn’t think it’s worth bringing my vanagon back home, but I love her, even though she costs me a pretty penny to maintain every year.
Matson is the only company moving vehicles from Seattle. Pasha will ship from California to Honolulu.
I’d fix the AC while you are in Seattle.
I am new to the island and have just go my very own 1979 VW Super Beetle. The engine sounds great and works well. The only issue I have is that when I shift to 2nd gear sometimes it likes to pop out of gear. I read somewhere on the internet that I should get the transmission fix. I was wondering if anybody knows of a good shop or knows how to do it. I can pay for the parts easy and learning knew things is great I just am looking for some good advice from the vets of VW.
I have a 1978 westfailia and was planning on shipping it and importing it to Oahu. Is there any epa standards that I would have to comply with or change my standard exhaust system? My van is getting a new motor but I was wondering if they will allow my van into Hawaii. I am from Canada but van was originally made in Mexico…pls help!!!
