On a blessed cool Sunday Island VeeDubs came together for the traditional First Sunday ’16 Cruise. Members of Westside Ka’ahui Braddahood, Vintage VW Club of Hawaii, Der Perle Stadt Kreuzers, and independent VeeDub enthusiasts came out for a Good Luck ’16 Cruise.
The gathering place was under the bridge at Stadium Mall. Like a shutter-bug Patrick Vendiola came and recorded history in the making. Irene-n-Henry Ramiro of the Westside Ka’ahui Braddahood prayed for us for a safe journey and return home safely. Mr. Mike Archer then Irene-n-Henry Ramiro led the convoy. Route was H-3 to Windward Mall to Bellows to Sandy’s to Hawaii Kai Boat Harbor then to Rainbow’s.
Volks folks near and afar gathered for the much anticipated first Sunday Cruise. Chris Walker in his Thing, Shane Kawakami in his low Ghia, Jason Domingsil of Kalihi in his ’57 Rag, and Frankie-n-Nikki of Wahiawa where among the thirty cruisers. Newcomer Jeff-n-Lynn Scott of Palm Desert, Cali by way of Ko’olina rolled in their sweet ’67 Bus. Mike Murphy of Scotland, yes Scotland, hung with us throughout the cruise route. Rare cameo cruisers were Wayne Silva and Shawn ‘SOUPA’ Murray. Flynn ‘REBORN’ Levi had a little mishap in Pearl City but quickly fixed the issue and rejoined the convoy.
Quote of the day, “What an experience!” by Lynn Scott.
